Gas Milage 1992 4Runner V6 Auto
I have a 92 4Runner v6 auto 4wd that has 132000 miles on it. I had the head gaskets and the fuel injector seals replaced about 2000 miles ago. It is getting poor gas milage, average 8.5 MPG with 50/50 city hwy in 4WD. The only engine miodification I have done is a K&N FIPK kit. Any ideas why the poor milage? Also, it has been below zero here for about a week.
There are so many reasons as to why your car is getting poor gas mileage. The most common problems, and cheapest to fix, is the air filter. A bad or dirty air filter can drastically impact your fuel economy. Another is tire pressure. Do you know what kind of mileage your vehicle was getting prior to the work you had done on it?
Before the fuel injector seals went bad and the sub-zero tempatures is was getting 16 to 20 mpg. New K&N air filter and new tires @ 32 PSI
possibly a defective 02 sensor. if the 02 sensor located in the exhaust just ahead of the catalytic convertor is not functioning properly you will get extremely poor mileage as well as performance. It may also idle not as nice as it should , low or rough.
