how to open Rear Hatch on a 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara

purchased a used vehicle, rear hatch handle is broken and can't get  rear hatch
to open at all, please assist in advise on how to open, then replace Handle

Remove rear inside panel there is a rod tha god to outside latch same thing happen to my 2000 and after I opened you can see the Handel and a few rods and I sprayed it and the Handel wasn't broke the rod popped off work like new
