Transmission/AC

Asked by Jun 26, 2016 at 08:02 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu LT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey everyone! I had to replace the MAF
sensor on my 2006 Chevy Malibu because
it was causing my transmission to shift
hard. I replaced it, and the problem was
still there. Then I unplugged the battery
cables, and reset the system. It worked
great! But then my AC would not work. I
decided to let it run for a while, and when I
decided to drive it up the road the
compressor kicked on and it started to
work again. Unfortunately, the transmission
started to shift hard again. Any clues as to
what could be causing this?

The MAF has nothing to do with the transmission shifting, so you found that out the hard way. A hard shifting transmission can be from worn parts to a solenoid issue. Have a mechanic or local trans shop diagnose the problem.
