I just bought a 2006 Chev Malibu LT with a power truck lock that works fine. However it will not open with the key which sometimes is awkward. Car does not have key less entry. The truck lock feels like it has a broken key in it as the key does not go all the way in. So, repair ? or is the assembly replaceable by myself, or is it a dealer or mechanic job ?

Try a squirt of WD-40 in the key hole. Perhaps one of the tumblers in the lock cylinder is stuck. If that doesn't work you'll need to replace the lock cylinder. Not a hard job. On the underside of the trunk lid there's most likely an access panel that'll have to be removed. Then there's a sliding clip that has to be removed. Once the clip is removed the lock cylinder will come right out. Don't forget to reuse or replace the gasket on the lock cylinder to keep water out. HTH. -Jim
