Radiator hit but not leaking

Asked by Nov 02, 2016 at 10:57 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Impala LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I ran into a stump it bent my radiator and
the frame around it pushing my fan up
against the engine no real damage but the
damage, is that my car runs hot after like 6
or 7 minutes of driving it cools back down
and is good to go depending on my I might
have to stop for another three or four
minutes but after that no problem what
would be a permanent solution besides the
obvious of replacing radiator

When a radiator is bent like yours is the air flow is severely restricted, it is meant to pass straight through, when it has to navigate a curve it slows down reducing the amount of heat exchange, the only real cure is a replacement radiator, you car is old enough that you should be able too pickup a cheap used radiator that can get you by until you can afford a new one.
