2005 Subaru Outback legacy 2.5l wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The emission has 2 mufflers coming out after the
resonator. It's not as complicated as you think.
Getting my hands in place to replace the o2 took
some time put I did it and threaded it out. Pry as
hard as figuring how to instal the stabilizer bar
where to position the bar as it slides in. And valve
covers are easy. I can just replace them. The car
don't have lifter tick and runs strong. I think your
over thinking stuff I'm a Subaru guy I know some
cars are known for head gasket failure but with a
car like this if main ten ever is taken care of then it
will run for a long time am I right?

If I remember right you said the car had major blow by. Valve cover gaskets won't fix that. Yes they will run a long time if cared for but the head gasket thing is mostly chance. There are a few of things you can do to extend head gasket life - use the Subaru anti-leak in the radiator, use a higher octane gas to prevent pinging and keep the battery terminals clean and tight which reduces electrolysis.

It's an '05; if HGs haven't been done yet I'd be surprised. If HG's are the three-ply installed after 2010 then maybe you'll be ok.
