My timing belt broke and when I lined
everything back up and put the new timing
belt on my car starts but it runs really crappy
and when you let off the gas, it dies right
Are you absolutely sure you have the cam timing correct? When I did my 2003 Forester timing belt the marks were a bit vague so I looked up the tooth count to be absolutely certain and it ran great.
I would suggest a compression test just in case a valve was bent and check for vacuum leaks.
If the timing is off you may have inaccurate compression readings, most belt driven engines don't hit the valves when the belt cuts. U may need to recheck the timing
