50/50 mixture dex-cool Your owners manual should have this info.

Dex-cool is not necessary. I personally would go with the green stuff as there have been too many problems with the orange coolant.

Such as?? Sounds like internet stories. Stick with dex cool as specified by the manufacturer. They didn't pay all those engineers all that money to develop something that doesn't work.

In the past I've heard of problems with dex-cool. I was just going by the owners manual recommendation. I know people that use the regular green antifreeze when their vehicle calls for dex-cool. I'm not an expert, not trying to argue.

If it was orange it was most likely dexcool which is what your car requires so I would say yes.

So you know if you look into it you CAN NOT put green antifreeze in a car with orange already they dont mix and turn into a jelly like stuff it wont happen instantly but over time also it is a 50/50 mix ? For a 05 cobalt ls right?

The color is not what matters. Dexcool compatibility is what matters. Read the labels carefully. If it says Dexcool compatible then it is. If it doesn't then is likely isn't. An '05 Cobalt definitely came from the factory with dexcool in it and that's most likely still what's in it unless someone went to the trouble of flushing it out an putting something else in, which seems unlikely.
