How to change 99 Legacy Outback Wiper blades

Asked by Jan 05, 2014 at 04:07 PM about the 1999 Subaru Legacy 4 Dr Outback Limited 30th Anniversary AWD Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After looking in stores, and consulting the manual, it seems that the wiper blades on the 99 Subaru Legacy Outback are different from what is sold in store? In store they sell the entire wiper replacement but in the manual it shows just replaced the rubber blade. Where can I get this or have it done?

You may have to either go back to the Subaru dealer or special order them at your local auto parts store. The rubber strips are called refills. Years ago that's what was designed to be replaced. Now days the entire blade assembly usually gets replaced. At NAPA, where I work, we don't keep refills in stock any more but we can order them if a customer requests them. HTH. -Jim
