When I was closing driver side window smoke came out of left dash vent so I open the window now it won't close Can someone help me please 1999 Subaru Legacy 4 Dr Outback AWD Wagon
the window regulator is blown
you have to replace the part. not a quick fix
So I need to replace the whole regulator kit
thats what i would do
It is possible that you have more than one problem going on here, first you have to find the what caused the smoke, as it happened to the drivers door you will have to pull the door panel and the lower drivers kick panel to gain access to the wiring, then start looking for the melted wire, as it is going to be in a loom of other wires it is not going to be easy, then you need to separate out the burnt wire from the rest, follow it until it is no longer burnt and then cut it off and solder and heat shrink the connections, then do the same to any other wires that were damaged . Now that the wiring has been repaired, look at the componet that it was connected too, is it worn out, binding, etc. repair or replace as needed, then re-wrap the wire looms and test the systems affected, if all is right then put the panels back on.
