woowee, there are a lot of things what could be wrong~ an automatic? or manual transmission, in any case the oil smell would probably be from the engine~ four sets of constant velocity joints are on your vehicle...chances are that at least one of them is causing the vibration....check them for torn boots~

yes they will continue to get worse as time goes on~ check the oil level to find the extent of the leak...try to spot the bad gasket or perhaps the PVC elbow has fallen off...and the transmission level. parked, running with the handbrake set...if it's low...top it the line and try to find out where it's leaking...mostly is the rubber connectors to the radiator...you could check that~

drive axles really ain't so much money~ https://www.google.com/? gws_rd=ssl#q=1999+Subaru+Legacy+2.5+GT+drive+axles&tbm=sh op

I just went and bought this car . The guy I bought the car from said he just put a new radiator in it . I was looking under and around the car . Seen a lot of bolts that were not there. So now u give me something else to check . Cause to tell u the truth . The c.v boots looked fine .. Thanks .

glad to hear that..I've always loved these...but remember the BRAT~ which I took rides in back in the day~ ...okay...the click- clack sound is tell-tale...regardless if the boots are torn or not~ scary that the bolts were not there...perhaps there is an isometric drawing of all the parts and pieces for auto parts stores that may show you which bolts go where...that is frightening, cause at high-speed don't want driveshafts floppin' around on the freeway~
