when i crank my car it idles up and down like a see saw and its extremely loud and you can smell gas. also it is burning extreme amounts of gas

Is there a light on the dash, Check engine light? Perform a tuneup recently? Spark plugs, clean throttle body, IAC, MAF, change air and fuel filters? Probably not, eh?
