What is causing a complete electrical drain on the system when the a/c is on ?
New battery and alternator working fine until the a/c fun comes on then the entire system
shows a big dis-charge. Anybody know what this is and how to fix it ?
...as a matter of fact we know about this...that's how come your idle speed and RPM's increase to compensate whenever your A/C is engaged...check activation of your "idle-up" solenoid~
Your performance will be cut by at least 12% whenever the a/c compressor is engaged...models without a/c will have a smaller engine typically~
turn it OFF to climb that hill...back on when you come down~...course you know this already~
It seems as though the I haven't posed this question/problem correctly.
something catching fire? smokin' and stinkin'?
NO. The battery drains down to nothing and alternator stops charging when a/c is on even at highway speed.
your battery has to be newer than fiver years old or will not be takin' a charge then as batteries stop taking a charge 10% per year, and will continue to ask for maximum output thusly cooking the alternator...so in conclusion...get a new battery...get a new alternator belt...and if needed at this point...get a new alternator~
