Yea thats normal. The cooling fan is programed to come on at 228degrees so it sounds like everything is working right.

Yes this is normal, Your LS engine is a very tight tolerance engine. It requires synthetic oil(5W-30) so that it will return to the pan fast enough to keep the pick-up sump from going dry.The engine makes more power and gets better mileage at 198-220 deg. This is fine, it is meant to run at this temp. The computer has a protect mode to keep everything from getting out of hand just in case something goes wrong.Your owners manual will even tell you that if you race,........add an extra quart of oil. Then when your done, remove the extra quart . Trust me , Everything is fine with your car. Enjoy. Dobermann

I know these comments are 3yrs old but I don't care what the manual says. My 96 ran these temps and I wasn't comfortable at all. Anyone who knows anything about cars or metals knows that 230deg is to hot. Yes the fans don't turn on til 227deg but these Cars have alum heads and alum warps at 245deg. My advice is check the coolant sensor probe, install a 190deg thermostat and find a place that will go in and reprogram your fans to start at 200deg. Car should never get over 215.

200 to 220 is normal. Car is high perf. and built this way. Don't deviate from stock components. Waste of time and money.

Anyone on this site still having issues with high temps, should invest in a remote control fob for the secondary fan. That fan comes on at 226 or higher, but, if you have the remote fan fob, you can turn it on anytime. Go to SACCITYCORVETTES.COM. Depending on your Vette it is either a V2 or V3 kit you get. It explains that too. I have not had a problem since I installed this part for $132. Great investment.

As for turning on the second fan, you can run a wear from the relay to a ground and wire a switch into the inside of your vette for very little...

So whats the most practical, logical answer to Corvettes running within 10-15 degrees of certain death? Seems most reasonable, and the place to start is with a lower temperature opening thermostat. Yes? What say you?
