Are spark plugs interchangeable for different years of the same model?
I have a 2000 Subaru Forester, which came with four brand new spark
plugs in the glove box (the guy who sold it to me worked at a Subaru
dealership). Anyway, my Haynes manual says that the spark plugs (that I
have in the glove box) are for 2005 or later models and suggests a
different one for my year. In other words, will NGK FR5AP111 (used in the
05 model) work as a replacement for NGK BKR6E-11 (what's suggested in
the Haynes manual)?
Personally I would buy (4) of the BKR6E-11, that is what is recommended for both the 2.0L and 2.5L, for $10 why beat yourself up on using the wrong ones?
I'd stick with the "6" heat range, and pony up for the newer iridiums so that you don't EVER have to replace them again!
