my radiator is not getting hot but is using water/antifreeze
1998 Subaru forester and I'm using antifreeze I keep filling up the overflow but the radiator is not getting hot the idiot gauge is showing right in the middle ....its not anywhere near hot and I can go 50 miles and open the radiator top its not hot at all ......what could it be waterpump? clogged radiator? both ?
The thermostat could be sticking open
but would that made it so the radiator is not getting hot at all during long rides I can touch the radiator right after I drove 50 miles in it and take off the top
and if that's the case what do I have to do to fix it someone said there was no circulation should I put in stop leak to the radiator because now I noticed it leaks a small amt right after I shut it down
Most likely you have a head gasket issue which is common with Subaru's. Use the Subaru brand radiator anti-leak which will reduce the coolant loss.
NO STOP LEAK!!!! WILL CAUSE WORSE PROBLEMS...
