i wouldlike to know how to secure a payment from the buyer without getting
scammed

I have had no problems with Pay-Pal but cash is king!

Cash or a cashiers check drawn on YOUR bank. Take it to your bank to verify that it is good before transferring the car to the buyer. For really expensive cars you can do a bank to bank transfer but talk to your banker about that.
