is it common for transmision bands to break after 120,000 miles ? I got a diagnostic test done and this is what thy tol of me , I have a 2006 grand prix 3800 motor no super charge it is standard

Automatics have been breaking bands for generations, so it is a normal thing to do, I've seen them break with a little as 25000 miles on an automatic.

yes... and with regular 40k mile transmission oil changes mine lasted 168K in SF city traffic.
