Serpentine Belt/ power steering pump and pulley

Asked by Kristenmurray0429 Feb 10, 2020 at 08:40 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my serpentine belt came off of my 06 pontiac grand prix, but did not break. I replaced the tensioner assembly and put a new belt on. Immediately after starting the car the belt came off again. Seemed to come off at the power steering pump pulley. Could this be a possibility???? I'm already $200 in on this and don't want to waste more money on another unnecessary part.

Remove the belt again, and check the pulleys by hand to see which one is loose, and if they spin freely. See if all of them line up too, use a straight edge to determine. IS the power steering pump loose or alternator?

Alternator is definitely not the loose one. I removed it so I could change out the tensioner pulley assembly. Checked the pulley there when it was out. I'm basically playing process of elimination right now....
