What type of fuel to use
I have a 2005 Grand Prix in the summer threw fall i'll use 180 thermostat but
this year i could smell gas in oil and notice going threw fuel much quicker now i
switch back to 192 thermostat factory now no gas smell and more fuel efficient.
question if i use a higher octane fuel will this fix problem for this coming
summer?

I think you have an internal engine problem and the only solution is to repair it , The stat lets the engine run a the temp it was designed for if there's fuel in the oil then the piston rings are blown
Running a 180 degree thermostat may have kept the car running rich. Keep the 195 degree thermostat in and you will be OK.
I agree with F_O_R. And the same goes for fuel. Use the octane level recommended by the manufacturer. 1965 was a long time ago. Modern cars are carefully engineered and specifications like which thermostat and fuel to use are not suggestions, they are requirements to make the car operate the way it was designed to.
