2003 Pontiac Grand Prix's inner trunk access panel in the backseat won't unlock

I recently bought a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. Bought it from a deale and was
given 2 keys. There's a inner access door to get into the trunk of the car from
the inside cab. I've tried to get this open a few times but can't. There's a key
slot but neither of the keys given to my by the dealer works to open it. There
also appears to be a button above the key slot but pressing that doesn't help
it open. Any suggestions? I would be willing to take it somewhere but am not
sure what kind of place would be able to help me out.

If the keys you have will open everything else and start the car I'd have to say the lock on the passthru compartment has been replaced at some point. But if the keys you have will only start the car and unlock the doors but not the glove box you have valet keys. These cars were originally delivered with 2 master keys and 1 valet key. The valet key will unlock the doors and start the car but won't unlock anything else (trunk, glove box, etc.). Check with your local GM dealer. Your key codes are still on file. You'll need proof of ownership. Your photo driver's license and the vehicle registration will do. Once you have the new key it must be programmed to the car in order to start it. First, start the car using the old key. Then shut off the car and immediately remove the old key and insert the new key. Turn the ignition on but don't try to start the engine. Watch the security light on the dash. When it goes out, usually in 3 to 5 seconds, turn off the ignition and then immediately start the engine with the new key. Now the new key is programmed.
