Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my grand prix wont start  I tried the security lockout reset of 15 min but still same thing. I
took the steering colume apart and I noticed there is a white plastic thing with a push in
button on each end this looks like it is backed out of the hole it fits into, I tried to push it
back in there but it wont go,  is it supposed to be up in the slot ip in the colume

That's the park/lock solenoid. It prevents you from removing the ignition key unless you're in park with your foot off the brake pedal. Switch on the headlights and try to start it. If the lights dim badly, flicker, or go out it's a dead battery or bad battery cable connections. If the lights stay nice and bright it's the starter or neutral safety switch. Also try running the shifter through all the gears a couple times then try to start it in neutral. If it then starts it's the neutral safety switch. HTH. - Jim

As JS08016 said ,make sure battery is good and and cables to it are clean and tight,if they are good, and you still hear clicking, may be a bad starter.
