Asked by mark Jul 15, 2021 at 04:08 AM about the 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

so i did the rear head gasket on my 02 grand prix,
arked the alternator off the coolant housing, lost
all power lights, dash, battery got extreamly hot.
all the fuses are still good,  so what the hell did i
fry???

First, since your battery got overheated, I would have it tested to make sure it's still good....some have a fuse at the battery terminal, and then follow the positive from the battery to the ignition switch, there may be a megafuse (I would guess 125/150 amp)

Rule number one, disconnect the negative battery cable before beginning a repair such as this. You might have fried the BCM (Body Control Module) and/or the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). Hope that helps! Jim
