My pontiac grand prix occassionally will not start...security light is not on....Why?
All the dash lights come on but engine does not crank....security light is not on...the car
also will not shift out of park when this happens...sometimes it will start after waiting a
while...sometimes I have to disconnect the battery in order for it to start...Help!
...okay, the 1/0awg battery cable is full of corrosion at the far side that bolts to the fender/chassis ground...also these new tin/antimony batteries only last five years before they stop taking a charge...get a new battery...assure the 300 cold cranking amps gets to the starter....the other 1/0 cable goes to the engine (near the alternator)...gotta have this one or the starter will not start~
use a simple coarse wirebrush...then put them together~
strange how they use THIS ground which "welds" the connection with each use creating a layer of burnt metal and carbon~ tied the ECU which uses barely an amp coupled with the three hundred amps...I'm NOT a rocket scientist but ON THE SAME ground? doofs~
...the symptoms point to a classic undervoltage condition~
your battery is old~
