When I press my brake pedal it is very hard and takes alot more to stop, what is wrong with my brakes?

Could be the master cylinder.

Also the break power assist that the master cylinder is attached to. This operates from vacuum from you motor, and do go bad. It gets to the point that the breaks are extremely hard to push.

You may want to get the lines bled. My master cylinder went out, but they weren't hard to push - sometimes they would stop easier than other times. They would grind when I would stop while driving on a wet road or hit a bump. Scared me for sure when I ended up not having anything one day!
