my floor shifter won't shift into gear
WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND THE CLUTCH IN./ DEPRESSED???????
Try turning the ignition 1 click clockwise from the lock position, step on the brake, and see if it'll shift out of park. If so you can start it in neutral. Are your brake lights out? If so it's probably going to be the brake light switch. Otherwise it's probably the solenoid in the shifter assembly that releases the shifter. HTH. -Jim
It sounds like the shift interlock solenoid has failed
or brake switch as Js said
does it feel like it just slides or it is locked : even when brake is appliied? if it slides, the shift cable is out. if it cannot move, follow the above posts.
