99 grand prix gtp in drive but won't move.
When my car comes to a complete stop and then I try to go again I get the
RPMs but the car won't budge. Eventually I can finesse it to start going and all
the other gears catch fine until I stop again. My transmission doesn't slip and
my reverse also works.
I had a guy who doesn't know much about transmissions look at it and he
thinks I need a new tranny but i think I had this problem before and a new
throttle idle or something fixed it. I don't know much about cars but does that
Take it a tranny repair shop and have them diagnose it. They should be able to read any codes and tell you what's wrong.
RIght, but it could also be as simple as low fluid level.
Yes try the easy stuff first. Basically three potential issues...Low fluid level....plugged filter....internal mechanical wear/damage.
siunds like a quart or two low
If your model was equipped with the performance shift button, then it was also equipped with an electronically controlled clutch activated torque converter. It could also be an issue with it. Hopefully by now though, you have already checked the fluid level as mentioned above and it was something as simple as that.
