1999 grand prix. Window won't work. Changed relay worked a couple times after then it got stuck in down position. Jumper ed wires to get window up. Tryed different control switch but still nothing
Ok pulled all my fuses under hood. All ok. Then it started to work again. Hmm. Weird.
Sounds like there is corrosion on the contacts that the fuse plugs into in the fuse box. Slide the fuse in and out a few times to clean it. A spot of dielectric grease on the fuse tabs will help keep a good connection as well. HTH. -Jim
Hello, Glad you are going, but just a word of caution. Most GM Electric motors' windows fail at the end of the down stroke... Brushes/Bushing with enough wear cause no contact of brushes with a bind on the motor. The fact you jumped it, opened/shut/slammed door may have been enough to make it work again. Often when working on these, or helping one get a window up, a bump from a brass hammer with switch engaged is enough to start the motor again. Point is, if those are the original motors, then it could be time...and the drivers side front is always the first to go... Good Luck, AskTrannyMan
