1997 Pontiac Grand Prix - No Start
I have a 1997 Grand Prix GT with a no start condition.
History... battery replaced about a month ago. Been driving since this past week. Car would not start at work so had
to jump. Happened again at home jumped with battery box. Then on Tuesday drove around to a few places a
handful of starts no issue....But my last stop would not start at all and jumping didnt help either.
Verified battery has 12v. I had also checked the alternator before that it was pushing 13-14.5 volts. So I was
thinking it was the starter....
Replaced starter and still no start.....
Key in , dash lights up but when going to run position nothing.
Checked IGN 1 fuse and thats fine.
The only thing I can think of between the ignition/battery and the starter would be the neutral safety switch and that's if you have an automatic.
It is an automatic. I wonder that too... however, I started it multiple times that day.... not sure how frequently those go out. Could it have anything to do with the security system?
I don't anything about security systems. Never even considered it in your case although that's an option. From what I've read neutral safety switches rarely go out, but there's not too many things between the ignition and the starter solenoid
Well the battery and the starter have been replaced. Still no start.
I looked up parts and one lists an ignition relay, little square thing. Problem is that another source says it's just a general purpose relay http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-D7065C-Original-Equipment-Multi-Purpose/dp/B000C9MN4U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419614214&sr=8-1&keywords=ACDELCO+Part+%23+D7065C
