My 2005 grand am will not set the evap or egr monitor . No pending codes

Could be ground for those sensors, trace the wiring back and make sure the grounds are clean and tight.

EVAP is the hardest readiness monitor to set. Since your car is a 2005 model you can sneak through emissions inspection with 1, but only 1, readiness monitor not set. To get all the others to set keep your gas tank between 3/4 and 1/4 full. No more and no less! Then just drive normally for about a week. The readiness monitors will set within that time. If all but the EVAP system has set go to inspection. HTH. -Jim
