2004 grand am no start
I have a 2004 grand am that I replaced the motor in
its a 3400L. After replacing the motor I'm having a
rough time getting the car to start. It will not
continuously crank over? It will like do a half crank.
If I go back and forth with the key doing half cranks
the car will eventually start. I can also get it to start
by jumping the solenoid. It did not do this before I
replaced the motor it would crank just fine. I have
also tried relocating the ground wire from the
battery also replaced all the old sensors off junk
motor to the new one. I hooked it up the the
scanner as well and found no codes?
When swapping a motor in a GM vehicle you may have interrupted the communication of the antitheft system. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/ & http://newrockies.com/ Essentially the vehicle may be in antitheft mode stopping you from starting at the key. This system can also effect fuel injectors.
