can the strut keep my cvc axle on right side from lining up

front end was damaged on a high curb have replaced cvc axle but will not line
up and stay engaged if i jack up ball joint it will engage is this the strut or ball
joint that is damaged please any advice will help

I don't quite understand "stay engaged", Engaged to what, the transmission?
