How expensive is "Rocker Arm" to replace?

Asked by Michele Nov 09, 2017 at 03:54 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am looking at a 2003 Grand Am to buy, but the seller says that the car will
drive for 20-30 minutes just fine but will sputter and stall, but start right back up.
He said the "Rocker Arm" needs to be replaced.

Thanks Tom. I am just bummed out because the car is really cheap and looks AWESOME. Had a new paint job, the guy said he just got sick of sinking money in used cars and went and bought a new truck.

If the repair is cheap why does the owner not fix it? Owners who are selling fixer-uppers typically low ball the repairs either because they are lying or because they are ignorant. The reason why the guy got sick of repairing it is because IT IS A PIG!

A rocker arm would not cause the engine to sputter and die after a few minutes. BOGUS!

Agree with F_O_R, a rocker arm issue will cause an immediate symptom. Don't buy it.
