If tapping sound in my 3.4L V6 for 2003 Grand Am Gt is not the lifters what else could it be?

Asked by May 12, 2017 at 06:49 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced all lifters, all rods are straight, replaced 1 rocker due to gap
between the rocker block and head. Were separated due to improper
installation of a helicoil (was pinched). Put all back together and am still
having the tapping sound. Noticed that when at idle it taps and when RPM is
increased some, tapping subsides.

Measure the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge.
