Why won't my car start

I parked my car at home in the next day try to start
it it won't turn it turns over but don't start don't hear
fuel pump kick on put starting fluid in it it starts
then dies

then I would look at replacing the fuel pump. You can check the wiring to see if the pump is getting 12V when you have things apart before replacing the pump.
