I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am Gt, and my security light is on. I understand that I have to wait 10 min. With the key in the ignition. But my car still has the Security light on. Any answer?

Attempt to start it and leave the key on for 10 minutes, shut it off and attempt to start it again, sometimes it will start right up and sometimes that process will have to be repeated 2 more times. If you have already gotten it started and it is on while it runs then that means all signal has been lost with that item and you are in an ignore our bypass mode.there is more tired into it than just the ignition switch, the whole gauge cluster is part of the security system also.
