Edited: would you buy this car?

Asked by Mar 05, 2017 at 01:40 AM about the 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE Coupe

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Would you buy a 2000 Grand Am with 195k for 1000?
My test drive was great. It's very well maintained with records to prove it.
It has 195,000 miles,
But...
Extensive records suggest the head gasket HAS NOT been replaced, since
there's no record of it being done...
which kind of scares me.

I'm replacing a 1995 Isuzu rodeo with blown head gasket and too many other
problems to fix.

Thanks for your input

You get what you pay for, a grand is not that much money anymore when it comes to cars, if your really serious about this vehicle I recommend taking it to a shop that does used car check overs, it is money well spent, express your concerns at that time. Not every engine will blow a head gasket in its lifetime, there is usually an underlying problem that causes a headgasket to blow

And yes I most likely would buy this car if it checks out like you stated.
