I need instruction on how to repair it. I have a late model grand am 2.4L without the egr sensor. Thanks.

First of all you need a repair manual . and some special tools like a torque wrench. the head will have to go to a machine shop to be rebuilt. its not like changing a starter or alternator . you really need to know what you're doing and how to put everything back where it was.

that job is too much for someone who just bought a small 'craftsman 99 piece tool set' it is a complicated procedure, and requires machine work, (to resurface the head, at a minimum) and special tools'. might be cheaper to get a bone yard motor and replace it....
