whats done during the intake valve job?

I had an oil leak and took it in for intake valve job .....when doing a intake valve
job for cutlass supreme Oldsmobile 1995, is it customary check and make sure  
o ring is not leaking and if so fix it too at same time?

The valve seals should be replaced when doing the valves. If the valve guides are worn they should also be replaced.
