Have a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The check engine light stays on, but won't flash the service code. What should I do?

Can you get it to flash out a code 12? A code 12 is telling you that you've entered diagnosis mode. If you are not getting a code 12 then either you have a short in the wiring going to the instrument cluster, the instrument cluster is bad, or the ECM (computer) is bad. To clear the computer, disconnect the negative (-) battery cable for 30 seconds. Once you reconnect the battery cable and start the engine the light should be off until the trouble code resets. If it stays on, there's a short or the ECM is bad. HTH. -Jim
