can i adjust the distributor cap or connecting shaft to correct a slight timing problem?

There are 2 bolts that hold the distributor in place. You would loosen these bolts so you can turn the whole distributor. But the electronic advance would need to be disconnected first, and before you start the engine back up to adjust the timing. One thing I don't know is where to unplug the timing advance.
