what is the full line on the dip stick

Asked by May 27, 2012 at 09:48 PM about the 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT Spyder

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i think i over filled the oil in the car will it hurt the motor

1 Answer

755

filling with excess motor oil will likely burn off in the exhaust making the exhaust smoke a blueish color. allowing some of the excess motor oil to drain out the oil plug (the bolt on the bottom of the oil pan) until the correct level is acheived will correct this situation. the fill line is marked on the dipstick, usually stamped at the bottom with words and crosshash marks or holes. it usually says minimum and maximum oil level.
