I have a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis my
car won't drive forward or reverse the engine
just rears up do I need a new transmission
or is it something I can avoid?

Have you check to see if the transmission fluid is good or not? My brother has an Acura tl and that happened to him too. He added transmission fluid and it's drivable.
