The power seat controls are the issue. Are they both on the door? If one is on the seat, the other the door, you're sunk. Even then, I'm not sure the wiring would be the same.

I have asked a few mechanics so far. It doesn't seem as if anyone has ever attempted this yet so its all theory if it's even possible. One said, it would be easier to just take the leather off of one and reupholster the other. That was due to the 2005 may not have the same tracks for the bolts, a side air bag and a few extra wires. Another mechanic wanted to give it a shot figuring that the worse case is to attach the seat to the 2000 tracks then bolt it down, and then cut and rewire as needed. The best case, is that it all works out.

The controls seem to be the same on the seats and of course there are the door power control seat buttons.

The job is done. 2005 seats can fit into a 2000 car. Once the old seats are out, have a heavy duty vac to clean. Have lube to grease the rails. The seats were taken off of the 2005 frame and put on the 2000 frame. The motor can work on both years. The wiring is a challenge but nothing that an experienced mech cannot overcome. Airbags on 2005 seats don't work on the 2000 seat wires. Everything works fine, new seats fit using original frame to bolt into the floor and ride the rails. Note: the 2005 frame may also work with no need to switch onto the 2000 frame. Most mech's will have never done this before and may over work the job just to be safe.

The entire job, both front seats took three hours to take out and replace.

The seat belts have to stay. 2005 belt buckles don't work on 2000 belts.

Yes, the seats will fit. The original seat belts will have to stay as the new ones won't fit. The seats and the tracks can be swapped out.

Clean out the area below the seats because they probably need it and you won't get another chance to clean there again. Keep the tracks that mount on the floor. Keep the seat belts. You can swap the frames that mount on the track. You can swap the seats.

I am assuming that everything will go as well for you as it did for me with my seat swap. My 2005 Merc seats and arm rests are like new in a 2000 Merc.

I have a 2003 CV. Not a PVI. I want to go from the standard front seat which is a bench seat with power on drivers side only to bucket seats. Any recommendations? I would love to keep power seat on drivers side if possible.

This board is for Mercury Grand Marqui cars. My wild guess is that you may have a Honda CV. My recommendation would be to keep your original seats unless for some reason, they were so worn out that they needed to be replaced. A 2003 car, even a Honda, is going to start to take up a lot of cash in wear and tear on every part that is metal, seals and fluids. You may find yourself buying a newer model car in the near future. Finding seats for your car will involve a lot of hours hunting in junkyards or on line shopping. Replacing them will not be quick or easy. If the car still runs with no problems, then enjoy it as it is unless you are very motivated for a seat overhaul in a 2003 car.

Power seat wiring is completely different. Very difficult.

Both models are identical enough to be able to swap out most parts both mechanical and non mech. If you find a power seat in a junkyard that is a CV or maybe even a Marquis, it will fit normally into the floor rail and power seat hook ups. Try and find as close a year to yours as possible to be safe. A 2000 Marquis can swap out seats all the way up to a 2010- 11 in buckets. Your situation is a little different because you are going from bench to bucket. I am not sure how that would work because the rails on a bench may be different than a rail on a bucket. If the rails match, you can put buckets in. If they don't match, you have to go with a bench again. Installing new rails could put you at risk in case of an accident if they are not secured properly. Plus, the time and cost may make buying a newer model car the better choice. Used CV's and Marquis are still relatively cheap compared to the cost of fixing up an old one that is wearing out. If the floor rails match, the power wiring can always be connected by someone who understands how to cut/splice and connect wires. If the floor rails don't match, the seats are better left in the junk yard.

Can seats from a 2004 Lincoln Town car fit into an 03 Grand Marquis? Both are the bench seats.
