97 GM cruise control not working
ok just got my grandpas 97 Mercury GM in his will, and everything is fine but the CC. I
checked the fuse, #6 and it appears to be fine, cause my clock on the dash still
reads/operates. I also looked under the hood, and found a small fuse that was on the
wiring that is under the Master Brake Cylinder, and it was a clear grey color, but seemed
to be working. I am stumped, any ideas?
It could be a bad switch, bad servo, bad relay. You will have to determine what is bad and replace. I would try Ebay. There was a recall on your year Mercury for the wiring harness under the master cylinder. Also I found a solution from an old post. This is what the guy said: "There is a wire with a blue tag under the mastercylinder with two non-servicable fuses 2-amp fuses. I saw one in a 97 GM, I took it out, replaced the one on mine, and my cruise works like a charm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Yah that was the one fuse I found under the hood. I only found 1 not two. So I am left with the brake sensor part or, some other part that is broke
I'm not sure if the 97 is strictly electrically operated or not if it isn't check for vacuum leaks also.
