HOW DO I KNOW WHAT'S BURNT OUT, WHEN MY MIRRORS DON'T WORK?
I KNOW IT'S NOT THE FUSES, THAT I CHECKED. WHEN I MOVE THE JOYSTICK FOR THE
LEFT OR RIGHT MIRROR, NOTHING HAPPENS.
This is going to require getting to the back of the switch for some electrical troubleshooting. Wouldn't hurt to have a wiring diagram for the circuits when doing this as well. For tools you'll need an ohm meter and test light/voltmeter as well. Determine which wire provides power to the switch from the electrical system. With the test light or voltmeter determine if you have power from that wire to the switch connector. If no power, determine why by tracing it back to the source. If you have power- To test the switch contacts, follow the wiring diagram to determine the terminals that are connected with each function of the switch. Use the ohm meter to test continuity between contacts when the switch is in the various adjusment positions. I suspect you'll find the problem, given the symptoms, is either no power at the main feed or the main feed contact in the switch is fried. If that's the case, replace the switch and adjust at will! If all contacts check out, the problem would be in the mirror motors. I doubt this is it unless one failed before the other. Rarely do two components fail at the same time. If yours did, replace them and then go buy lottery tickets! Hope this is helpful!
Thanks a lot Mike. Very helpful indeed. Ended up replacing the switch. Lottery tickets on the other hand...not so lucky. Thanks again man, appreciate it.
Glad to help! I have no luck with lottery either!
