Hello I have a 2006 Lincoln town car and I have an issue with the AC what's happening is every time I turn the air conditioning on a smoke is coming from the AC vents and it smells like the R134a
Refrigerant really doesn't have smell so to speak. On a hot day I think you are pulling hot moist air from the outside, switch to the recirculating air. the smell could be because you need to change the cabin filter in the car....
R134a has an odor near-undetectable. And with actual smoke you can see much more likely that is steam from heater core
One more thing: "Freon" is the nomenclature for any auto-A/C refrigerant gas these days. Even when you buy R134a at the parts store, it is sometimes labeled "R134a Freon" which is a misnomer. "Freon" is a Trademark for R12 owned by DuPont. I don't know how or why DuPont allows them to get away with labeling their products Freon
