power door locks and windows don't work. where is fuse and/or breakers,,under leftside dash? I cleaned all switches/connections with elect. cleaner spray. power mirrors and driver seat controls work.
also replaced module under left side
dash,,gray box,,6 wires. ford mech. told me
this is module for locks & windows..still not
working. will try tracing power to door
connections,, may be short.
Our door lock actuators and window motors normally fail when our dew wipes (window trim) dry up and crack and allow water down the window and ~into~ the door or linkages become dislodged. Verify power AT the lock switch and then AT the solenoid.
tnx for answering so fast. But where is the solenoid,, under lft.side dash against firewall or else where?? is it a solenoid or module in a gray plastic box attached to the firewall that I've alresdy replaced. Also,,botj doors lock when shut from outside,,have to use key to unlock and open. could the dr. lock solenoids be bsd or is this way MkVIIs are designed?? Chiltons book doesn't get into this,,far as I've delved anyway. thanks again for any help. Larry in Arlington,Tx.
Larry, Our Door Lock Solenoids are located inside the rear of our doors. If you are comfortable using hand tools then it will be a 90 minute job for the first timer. The procedure can be found at http://thelincolnmarkviiclub.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=8684 with complete pictures found at http://thelincolnmarkviiclub.org/Gallery/Door-Lock-Actuator-Replacement/
Where is fuse or relay/breaker for dr. locks and windows?? In fuse box under left side of dash or else where? What is gray box for (6 wires/plug, circuteboard with heatsink, diodes, resistors, etc.) left side under dash? Does this have anything to do with dr locks and/or elect. windows(see my previous post). All fuses are good. Thanks again. Tried to register on owners site,,couldn't move LSC or Bill Blass options to right side box. Will try again on lap top,, on my android smartfone now.
