Air conditioner blows hot air

Asked by Jun 11, 2014 at 04:16 PM about the 1999 Lexus LS 400 Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've had the car in the shop twice. First time they replaced an expansion valve, evacuate and recharge R134A. It blew very cold for a day. I took it back and they performed another inspection, installed a new drier, new compressor, and did an air conditioning flush and recharge. It blew very cold for a day. Now it is blowing hot air again. At this point I have spent about $1800.

Update: Condensor fan inoperative.

You may have a leak in the aluminum pipes between the AC compressor and the condenser, or your condenser may need to be replaced.
