93 Lexus LS400 Speedometer cluster just rebuilt but lights still come on and then when car gets hot, lights go out. Any ideas?
My son just purchased a 93 Lexus. When we purchased it we knew there was a problem with the speedometer cluster. The lights would come on but after car warms up, they would go out.
So I took it to someone local and they took the cluster and had it rebuilt.
I drove the car back to work and it was working.
After sitting in the sun all day, I went to drive home and it wasn't working again.
Later on we tried it again and it worked fine. But when you turn car off and turn back on, it doesn't work.
Is this a problem still with the cluster or something else?
you can fix it by replacing 3 capacitors and the back of the dashboard i saw an instructional guide on how to do it, i will eventually to do it to mine as i have the same problem. (it should have been a recall)
i have the same problem with my 1993 Lexus LS 400..i replaced a couple of capacitors and it is working fine...Spent about 50 bucks and 3 hours of work...Yes there is an instruction online how to remove the instrument cluster....I would avoid the dealers because they will just replace the instrument cluster charge you more than $1500 + labor of maybe $100 an hour...
I looked at the link above for the instructions online, but received a message, "The requested page was not found.". Does anyone know where are online the instructions are? Thanks
